My research objective is to design compliant machines of greater complexity, functional diversity, and efficiency than we currently have. I develop compliant actuators and sensors that hold potential for robotics and haptics. In particular, I focus on investigating the mechanics of these transducers, expanding the palette of engineering materials, and developing appropriate fabrication techniques. My current research aims to devise high-performance miniaturized actuators using electro-adhesion.
